Vaughan Jones, Specialist String Arranger & Composer
Vaughan Jones composes for real instruments - writing for everything from a solo piano to full orchestra. He is also an experienced orchestrator and arranger working in all genres, adding orchestral istrumentation to pop and rock tracks.
Vaughan is frequently asked to supply the strings for jazz, classical, chamber pieces, rock tracks, film and television music. As a professional violinist and violist with over 30 years playing experience, he has a real insiders knowledge of how to really bring string parts to life and get the best effect from a string section.
As well as composing and arranging, Vaughan leads a group of some of Londons leading session players and can take on all aspects of recording work - from composing, orchestration, notation and arranging through to recording the finished product to an extremely polished standard with some of the finest studio musicians in the country.
Although Vaughan works most frequently with strings, he is happy to write for most instrument combinations, including collaborating with other composers who would like to use real instruments in their work, or who need specialist advice on getting the maximum effect out of strings.
Education: Vaughan gained a music scholarship to Charterhouse school, subsequently studying music for three years at Birmingham Conservatoire and completing his post graduate diploma at the Royal College of Music in London. After embarking on a busy career playing with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, Vaughan now composes and arranges music, working as a studio musician and playing chamber music professionally.
